The step below explains how to recover a migration session if it runs into an issue as "Migration failed in DP with error: STATUS_INVALID_PARAMETER" when the migration volume is expanded while migration is in progress.

1.Issue

"Migration failed in DP with error: STATUS_INVALID_PARAMETER" when the migration volume is expanded while migration is in progress.


2.Cause

The migration session will raise the error "Migration failed in DP with error: STATUS_INVALID_PARAMETER" if a migration volume is created with a non integral multiple of 2MB or if the volume is expanded while the migration was in progress.

3.Solution

  1. Prepare the volumes for migration

  • Migration volumes that were initially created with a volume size which are not an integral multiple of 2MB should be changed to be an integral of 2MB.

  1. Delete the existing migration session in the failed state and create a new session.
  • Ensure that the migration volumes are not expanded while the migration is in progress.
