Depending on the changes made from the open systems host, problems can manifest themselves with various error messages with SRDF Host Component on the mainframe side.
When SRDF-HC is initialized within z/OS, various internal device and configuration tables are built in the started task storage. This data is static and not dynamically updated when the Symmetrix configuration is changed. The default started task names for SRDF-HC are EMCINIT or EMCRDF.

Resolution
If SRDF Host Component errors are encountered after changes to SRDF devices from open systems hosts, recycle the SRDF-HC started task on the z/OS operating system. This rebuilds the internal device and configuration tables.
