Windows 10
You may not be able to install the fingerprint reader on your system after a clean install of Windows 10. In the Device Manager, the fingerprint reader displays the following error: "This device cannot start (code 10), The current device power state cannot support this request."
Dell Data Protection | Security Tools are not compatible with Windows 10. Instead, Windows 10 must manage the fingerprint scanner.
To resolve this behavior:
- Download the Dell ControlVault Driver from the Dell Support site and run the installer.
- Download the Dell ControlVault Firmware from the Dell Support site and run the installer.
- Within Windows, navigate to
C:\dell\Drivers\GDFGW\firmware, double-click, and runushupgrade.exe.
NOTE: Should runningushupgrade.exefail, double-click, and runfwupgrdtool.exefrom the same folder.
After rebooting the system, Windows 10 should recognize the fingerprint scanner.
