NetWorker Virtual Edition （NVE） 裝置包含名為 change-password 的密碼管理公用程式。此公用程式可用來變更 NVE 作業系統的「admin」或「root」登入資料若要使用此方法，必須知道根憑據。
1.向託管 NVE 的 VMware vSphere Web Client 進行驗證。
2.從 vSphere Web Client 開啟遠端主控台至 NVE。
注意：依預設，停用透過 SSH 的根存取，若要直接透過 SSH 以根身分登入，必須啟用此功能。NVE：如何在 NetWorker Virtual Edition 上允許 root SSH 存取。
3.從 NVE 遠端主控台工作階段中，以根身分登入。
4.使用 變更密碼 公用程式更新管理員和根帳戶的密碼。範例：
如果管理員帳戶顯示為鎖定，可以使用 Linux pam_tally2 公用程式重設：
pam_tally2 --user admin --reset
如果系統管理員帳戶持續處於鎖定狀態，儘管沒有建立已知的 SSH 連線，則可以執行下列步驟，以檢查哪個系統正在嘗試 （並失敗） 使用管理員登入：
journalctl -u sshd | grep -w 'admin'

注意：這會顯示登入嘗試失敗的時間戳記，以及登入的來源 IP 位址。使用 nslookup 查看 IP 位址在 NVE 網路中是否可解析;如果 IP 解析為已知的主機名稱，請調查主機，瞭解其在 NVE 上產生登入嘗試失敗的原因。如果無法識別 IP 位址/主機，請諮詢您的網路/安全團隊，以調查請求的來源。
