Instructions
NMM only backs up one of the WFEs (Primary WFE) in a SharePoint Server Farm.
It performed federated backup of the SharePoint Server Farm through that WFE and includes backup of all dependent components.
If other WFEs have no dependency on farm level save sets, then NMM does not include those in federated backup workflow.
It is important to protect other WFEs for Disaster Recovery purpose.
Please refer to NMM User Guide for SharePoint and SQL VSS where it says:
"NOTE: You must separately backup the WFEs that are not part of a farm-level backup. Backing up these WFEs helps in the case of a disaster."
Secondary WFEs need to be backed up using NetWorker File System backups using save set All.
By default, the save set All includes the DISASTER RECOVERY:\ save set and all of the local physical drives.
