Symptoms

The NetWorker Management Console (NMC) shows the following error:

"Timed out while waiting for replybroker"

OR

"Check if RabbitMQ server is running!"

The NMC server's gstd.raw shows the following error:
0 MM/DD/YYYY HH:mm:SS 2 0 0 2136 4028 0 NMC_SERVER_NAME gstd NSR warning nsm: Initial jobs info RPC failed for server: NETWORKER_SERVER_NAME - Check if RabbitMQ server is running!
142768 MM/DD/YYYY HH:mm:SS 3 0 0 2136 4028 0 NMC_SERVER_NAME gstd NSR error Msgbus timeout!! Reconnecting!
0 MM/DD/YYYY HH:mm:SS 2 0 0 2136 4028 0 NMC_SERVER_NAME gstd NSR warning nsm: Initial jobs info RPC failed for server: NETWORKER_SERVER_NAME - Check if RabbitMQ server is running!

Cause

Issue with "stat.db" file that was stopping the messenger from initializing. The size of the stats.db can grow large, taking a lot of space. For example, several GB.

  • Linux: /nsr/res/statistics/stat.db
  • Windows (Default): C:\Program Files\EMC NetWorker\nsr\res\statistics\stats.db

Resolution

Perform the following steps on the NetWorker server.

  1. Stop the NetWorker services:
  • Linux: nsr_shutdown
  • Windows: net stop nsrd
  1. Rename the "stat.db" and create a new empty stat.db file:
  • Linux: /nsr/res/statistics/stat.db
  • Windows (Default): C:\Program Files\EMC NetWorker\nsr\res\statistics\stats.db
  1. Start the NetWorker services:
  • Linux: /etc/init.d/networker start or systemctl start networker
  • Windows: net start nsrd
Once NetWorker functionality is confirmed, delete the old stat.db file to reclaim space.

Additional Information

Similar symptoms may be observed in the NMC due to a connection issue with the RabbitMQ service port (5671/5672). If there is no issue with the stat.db size, see: NetWorke: Console "unable to open socket connection to host "NetWorker server" on port 5672"
