Summary: Dell Unity: Shares are not listed on Unity SMB Server (User Correctable)

This article applies to This article does not apply to This article is not tied to any specific product. Not all product versions are identified in this article.

Symptoms

Unity Administrator was migrating SMB shares to Dell Unity using Microsoft Robocopy.

After migration to Dell Unity, some Active Directory Users cannot list one or more SMB Shares.

Cause

Access-based Enumeration (ABE) is enabled on one or more shares.

ABE filters shared folders and files visible to a user based on that user's access rights, preventing the display of folders and files to which the user does not have full read access.

Resolution

Disable ABE Feature on SMB share. Follow the steps below:

  1. Download the emcabe tool.
  2. Open a command prompt.
  3. Run the below command to display the status of one or more specified shares:
    Y:\>emcabe /G /T <ServerName>
Below is an example for viewing the current status of the shares:
    Y:\>emcabe /G /T cwf-unity1
