Symptoms

VMware-tools worden steeds niet uitgevoerd.

Bij het pingen van de VM treedt er een time-out op:

Wanneer de gebruiker zich aanmeldt bij de console van de VM in vCenter, wordt de VM responsief en wordt VMware Tools uitgevoerd:

In het vmware.log van de betreffende VM ziet u het volgende bericht: 
vcpu-0| Your guest has entered a standby sleep state. Use the keyboard or mouse while grabbed to wake it.
vcpu-0| ---------------------------------------
vmx| GuestRpcSendTimedOut: message to toolbox timed out.
vmx| GuestRpcSendTimedOut: message to toolbox timed out.
vmx| GuestRpc: app toolbox's second ping timeout; assuming app is down

Cause

Dit probleem doet zich voor wanneer het Microsoft-besturingssysteem in de slaapstand gaat vanwege energiebeheer op de virtuele machine. Het schakelt alle apparaten uit, inclusief de netwerkkaart. U kunt de virtuele machine alleen rechtstreeks ontwaken vanuit een consolesessie, vanaf vCenter Server of op de ESXi-host waarop deze zich bevindt.

Controleer of VMware Tools een ondersteunde versie hebben voor het gastbesturingssysteem.

Resolution

U kunt dit bovenstaande probleem oplossen door energiebeheer uit te schakelen in het gastbesturingssysteem.
Stel de stroom- en slaaptimer in op 'NOOIT'.
Aan/uit- en slaapscherm ingesteld op Nooit
