Symptoms
During Import operations, there is the possibility that certain performance tools or utilities may interrupt or block the services of the Host PowerStore plugin, thereby causing Imports to fail, with one or more failure messages:
- "60-second timer for the critical operations performed during the import expired. Retry the operation."
- "Import failed while configuring destination volume on host."
- "Unable to determine importable status: connection was reset or closed for the specified host 100.20.20.20".
Resolution
1. Issue
- During an Import or Import Cancel operation, the PowerStore Orchestrator returns a failure, "60-second timer for the critical operations performed during the import expired. Retry the operation." Retrying the operation fails.
- During an Import or Refresh Host operation, the PowerStore Orchestrator returns a failure, "Unable to determine importable status: connection was reset or closed." Either of the above issues can be seen when running performance tools, such as Microsoft's DiskSpd or Event Tracing for Windows, on the Windows Import host. Performance tools can affect locking and disk management operations that can impact the ImportKit plugin services on the Host, which in turn can create Import failures.
2. Solution
-
Dell recommends that you refrain from running performance tools on the Windows Import host during Import operations, or lower the wait times or timeout values on the tools if you must run them.
-
For Import failures, "Cancel" the Import job and select the "Force Stop" option in the confirmation popup. Retry the Import operation.
