Nye tomme harddiske er ikke konfigureret til at organisere eller opbevare data. Når du partitionerer en harddisk, oprettes der dele af drevet, som gør det muligt for Windows at organisere og tilslutte til brug. Formatering af en harddisk giver Windows mulighed for at gemme data.
