Cause

What are the minimum HBA driver versions for ESXi host running on ProLiant: BL460c Gen9 with below HBAs as with inbox drivers PowerPath/VE is unable to claim supported storage systems

- Hewlett Packard HPE FlexFabric 10Gb 2-port 536FLB FlexibleLOM (766490-B21)Adapter

- Hewlett Packard HP FlexFabric 10/20Gb 2-port 630FLB FlexibleLOM Adapter (700065-B21)

Resolution

ESXi 6.5

ESXi6.5U2 driver qlef_1.0.45.3 and below has issues and fix is in qfle3f_1.0.63.0 available from https://my.vmware.com/web/vmware/details?downloadGroup=DT-ESXI65-QLOGIC-QFLE3-10740&productId=614

ESXi 6.7

ESXi 6.7 Both HBAs tested successfully with qfle3f_1.0.52.0 available from https://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/detail.php?deviceCategory=io&productid=36825&vcl=true

ESXi 6.7u1 both HBAs tested successfully with qfle3f_1.0.52.0

Additional Information

If you want to identify similar issues in other customer cases then ask any customer with this issue to enable below log mask
  # rpowermt set_log_mask module_name=MpxEsx log_mask=0x380051f
Collect the logs and look for below error messages

630FLB adapter was not handling the residual calculation correction resulting in improper transferred bytes calculation, PowerPath rejects path claim if there is any mismatch in the expected and transferred bytes. This is seen with below logs,
