Install Dell Optimizer Through System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)

Symptoms

Computer does not automatically switch audio to wired headphones or speakers when you plug-in any 3.5" audio jack.

Cause

Dell Optimizer is required for audio switching when using 3.5" audio jack.

Resolution

Follow these instructions to configure the Dell Optimizer installer through SCCM.

  1. Browse to the Dell Drivers & Downloads website.
  2. Identify your Dell product.
    • Enter the Service Tag, Express Service Code, or the Serial number of the Dell product and click Search.
    • Or, click Browse all products to manually select your Dell product from the catalog.
  3. Download Dell Optimizer. Click the Download button next to the driver of your choice and save the file.

  4. Extract Dell-Optimizer_03WMV_WIN_1.2.113.0_A00.exe to your SCCM Share directory.

  5. Review the Mup.xml for silent installation switches, Return Codes, and the MSI GUID of Dell Optimizer:

  6. Go to ConfigMGR Console > Application Management > Applications and Choose Create Application.

  7. Choose Manually specify the application information.

  8. Click Browse under the Icon heading.

  9. Browse to the Share directory of Dell Optimizer.

  10. Select DellOptimizer.exe for the icon.

  11. Click Add under Deployment Types.

  12. Select Script Installer, and then click Next.
  13. Enter the name Dell Optimizer 1.2.113, and then click Next.
  14. Browse to the Content location.
  15. Browse to the Installation program.
  16. Click DellOptimizer.exe
  17. Change the Command line to "DellOptimizer.exe /silent /debuglog=c:\temp\do12113.log", and then click Next.

  18. Change Detection Rule to Windows Installer

  19. Enter Product Code {71773CE7-20CA-4E8C-ACC1-42345D24DA03}.

  20. Click OK.

  21. Click Next

  22. Select Install for system only when a user is logged on.

  23. Click Next.

  24. Click Next on Requirements.
  25. Click Next on Dependencies.
  26. Click Next on Summary.
  27. Click Close.
  28. Click Next on Deployment Types.
  29. Click Next on Summary.
  30. Click Close.
  31. Right click Dell Optimizer 1.2.113.
  32. Choose Dell Optimizer 1.2.113.
  33. Select the correct collection.
  34. Select Automatically distribute content for dependencies.

  35. Add the correct Distribution point or group.

  36. Click Next.

  37. Select Action Install.
  38. Select Purpose Required.
  39. Click Next.
  40. Select As soon as possible.
  41. Select user notifications: Display in Software Center and show all notifications.
  42. Click Next.
  43. Click Next on Alerts.
  44. Click Next on Summary.
  45. Click Close.
