Note:

The steps below allow an administrator to change the Dell Trusted Device telemetry opt-in choice.

There are three ways to change the Dell Trusted Device Telemetry Opt-In setting:

Warning: The next step is a Windows Registry edit:
  1. Update the Windows registry Dell Trusted Device telemetry opt-in settings on the affected endpoint.
    1. Log in to the affected endpoint with a user that has local administrative rights.
    2. Run the Windows Registry Editor (regedit.exe) as an administrative user.
    3. Go to location:
      Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\DELL\TrustedDevice 
    4. Locate the value TelemetryOptin.

    5. Modify TelemetryOptin.
      Note:
      • 0 = Do not allow telemetry to be collected
      • 1= Allow telemetry to be collected
    6. Reboot the endpoint to enable the updated selection.
  2. A command line to change the Windows Registry value for the telemetry opt-in setting.
    1. Log in to the affected endpoint with a user that has local administrative rights.
    2. Open a cmd prompt, running as an administrative user.
    3. Run the registry command below:
      To disable Dell Trusted Device telemetry collection:
      reg add HKLM\SOFTWARE\DEll\trusteddevice /v telemetryoptin /t reg_dword /d 0 /f
      To enable Dell Trusted Device telemetry collection:
      reg add HKLM\SOFTWARE\DEll\trusteddevice /v telemetryoptin /t reg_dword /d 1 /f
      Note: The value being updated is in:
      Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\DELL\TrustedDevice
      The value is TelemetryOptin.
      0 = Do not allow telemetry to be collected
      				1= Allow telemetry to be collected
      				/f : forces the Windows Registry to be updated without confirmation
    4. Reboot the endpoint to enable the updated selection.
  3. A script using the command line above that can be pushed to an affected machine. This would be based on the deployment software that is being used in the environment.
