Symptoms

While adding newly created device to Storage Group using symaccess command it failed with error "Unconfigured devices"
symaccess -sid <SID> -name <SG_Name> -type stor add -dev <DevID> -lun <Addr>
Skipped devices:
1 Unconfigured devices

Cause

Adding newly created device to SG

Resolution

Check audit log and symapi.log to verify if device was created successfully. If yes, then run
"symdev -sid <SID> show <DevID>"
first and verify if it list device details.
In case symdev show fails with error i.e. 
"The operation cannot be completed because one or more devices are unconfigured"
 then please run
 "symcfg discover -nocache"
and then retry the operation.

discover : Scans all devices on the host looking for Symmetrix devices and builds (or rebuilds) the Symmetrix host database.
-nocache : Bypasses the cache and rescans the devices for configuration information.
