New Commercial customers may continue to purchase Dell Encryption Personal and Dell Encryption products until September 02, 2022.

Current Commercial Dell Encryption Personal and Dell Encryption Enterprise customers have until January 31, 2023, to:

  • Purchase new 1-year licenses.
  • Renew existing licenses for 1 year.
  • Purchase additional licenses to co-term with existing installed multi-year licenses.

Why is Dell phasing out its Encryption products?

The Dell Endpoint Security mission is to offer industry-leading, differentiated software and services solutions that help customers achieve the most secure posture possible. In pursuit of this mission, we constantly evaluate our portfolio of solutions to ensure that they continue to support this mission.

The decision to phase out the Dell Encryption solutions (Personal and Enterprise versions) is based on:

  • An encryption market that is becoming highly commoditized
  • Competitive offerings that are free
  • Dell’s strategic and financial decision to reinvest in other areas of growth

What alternatives to Dell Encryption are you recommending we migrate to?

Each organization should make an informed decision that is based on its specific needs. With the end of Maintenance and Support date occurring in 2026, you have a long runway to better evaluate your options.

Do my Encryption licenses stop working?

No, your Encryption licenses continue to be supported and maintained, and you continue to receive support, through the full term of your contract. Dell is providing a long lead time to end the support of Encryption to give customers time to determine migration options once support and maintenance ends.

All or some of my licenses expire soon (before the end of 2023), what can I do?

As a valued Dell Customer, you have multiple options. You have until January 31, 2023, to:

  • Purchase new 1-year licenses.
  • Renew existing licenses for 1 year.
  • Purchase additional licenses to co-term with existing installed multi-year licenses.

My licenses do not expire anytime soon (past 2023), is there anything I must do?

There is nothing for you to do today. We continue to support existing Encryption licenses until the end of your contract. Proactively, you may want to start considering product alternatives to migrate to once your support contract expires. Migration instructions can be found on your Customer Letter; if you cannot find your Customer Letter, reach out to your Dell Sales Representative.

My licenses expire after January 31, 2026. Does my support get extended until then?

It is possible that you may have a contract that lasts past the January 31, 2026, deadline for support. If you believe this is the case, reach out to your Dell Support Representative to review the details of your contract and verify your Encryption support deadline.

I am a recurring buyer and would like to purchase new licenses, what do I do?

Unfortunately, we are unable to continue to sell any Encryption licenses past January 31, 2023. Contact your Dell Sales Representative or email us at Dell.Encryption@dell.com should you have lingering questions.

I am a recurring buyer, and I have preferred configurations that include Dell Encryption. How will my preferred configurations change past January 31, 2023?

Configurations will change in the coming months but should still be available for recurring buyers. This is done in a manner that poses the least amount of intrusion to our customers.

How do we migrate from Dell Encryption?

Migration instructions can be found on your customer letter; if you cannot find your Customer Letter, reach out to your Dell Sales Representative. If you require further assistance, reach out to your Dell Support Representative before the end-of-support date on your contract.
