Obiettivo:

Eseguire il backup e il ripristino della configurazione ESXi per scenari in cui è necessario reinstallare ESXi. 

Fatto:
soluzione VMware ESXi

:

  1. Per eseguire il backup della configurazione ESXi:
    1. Eseguire il seguente comando: vim-cmd hostsvc/firmware/backup_config
    2. Esportare il file di configurazione accedendo all'URL nell'output. (Sostituire * nell'URL con l'indirizzo IP).
      Mastice
    3. Se non è possibile scaricare il file di configurazione tramite il browser, è possibile trovarlo in /scratch/downloads/<<GUID from output in step b>>/configBundle-hostname.local.tgz. Utilizzare winscp per trasferire il file da ESXi al computer locale o copiarlo in un datastore
  2. Ripristinare la configurazione sull host ESXi:
    1. Assicurarsi che la stessa build di ESXi da cui è stato eseguito il backup sia installata nuovamente sull host.
    2. Copiare nuovamente il file di backup sull'host ESXi. Utilizzare winscp per copiare nuovamente il file di configurazione sull host /tmp .
    3. Rinominare il file da configBundle-<host name>.tgz su configBundle.tgz.
      Esempio: 
      cp configBundle-esxi7001.vmlab.local.tgz configBundle.tgz
    4. Attivare la modalità di manutenzione sull host.
    5. Eseguire il comando: 
      vim-cmd hostsvc/firmware/restore_config /backup_location/configBundle.tgz
    6. Se si verifica un errore che indica la mancata corrispondenza dell'UUID, aggiungere un 1 per forzare l'override dell'UUID (Universal Unique Identifier).
      Esempio: 
      vim-cmd hostsvc/firmware/restore_config 1 /tmp/configBundle.tgz
