Symptoms

Recovery of the disaster recovery system was delayed after a M29 script failure. The disaster recovery solution suffered a CACA10 error during month-end processing, GDDR issued a script (M29) to resume the R1 to R2 data replication to recover.

The script had to be resubmitted for completion, delaying the recovery. The recovery of the R1 to R2 took several hours thus leaving the disaster recovery exposed. The SYMM cleanup takes 10-20 minutes to complete the background process.

Cause

A CACA10 error was encountered during month-end processing. GDDR issued a recovery script to resume data replication which failed.

Resolution

Workaround:

  • Rerun the script after waiting for background tasks to finish. Time to completion may vary. From past experience, 15 to 20 minutes seems to be the average time to completion.
