Symptoms
Il backup ha esito negativo con:
Unable to create snapshot. Unable to take a snapshot for virtual machine 'vm-24655' after multiple retry attempts. An error occurred while quiescing the virtual machine. See the virtual machine's event log for details.
L'analisi dei registri eventi delle macchine virtuali non mostra errori rilevanti.
La vmware.log delle macchine virtuali mostra:
[msg.snapshot.quiesce.startfail] Failed to start quiescing operation in the virtual machine.
Il test di un'istantanea con il set di file system Guest Quiesce viene completato correttamente, ma mostra Quiesce Guest File System = No.
Cause
Il problema è esterno a PPDM. Un qualche tipo di interazione tra VMware Tools e il sistema operativo guest.
Resolution
Disinstallare e reinstallare VMware Tools sulla macchina virtuale.
Testare un'istantanea e assicurarsi che Quiesce Guest File System = Yes.
A questo punto, i backup dovrebbero essere in grado di essere completati.
