Symptoms

仮想マシンにRDMディスクがある場合、仮想マシン バックアップのPowerProtect Data Manager保護ジョブが失敗します。保護プランには、バックアップから除外されたRDMディスクが含まれています。

障害発生時には、次のエラー メッセージが報告されます。

Error : Backup has FAILED. Unable to create snapshot. Unable to create non-quiesced snapshot after a retry attempt. Virtual machine is configured to use a device that prevents the snapshot operation: Device '' is a SCSI controller engaged in bus-sharing. (500) VADP is used as the data mover for the backup.
Transparent Snapshot Data Mover (TSDM)が資産のData Moverとして選択されている場合、バックアップ ジョブは引き続きVMware vStorage API for Data Protection (VADP)を使用して実行されます。 

Cause

バックアップ ポリシーに共有されていないディスクのみが含まれている場合でも、共有SCSIコントローラーを搭載した仮想マシンではVADPバックアップはサポートされません。

PowerProtect Data Managerバージョン19.13以前では、コードの欠陥があります。この欠陥により、バックアップから除外されているにもかかわらず、RDMディスクが引き続き考慮されます。その結果、バックアップ ジョブはTSDMではなくVADPを使用することになります。

Resolution

PowerProtect Data Managerをバージョン19.14以上にアップグレードし、TSDMをData Moverとして使用し、RDMディスクを除外します。これにより、非共有ディスクのバックアップが可能になります。
