Instructions
We recommend customers have a second DDVE running in another region with an additional bucket, and replicating between the DDVEs as mentioned in Chapter 2 of the following guide: Dell APEX Protection Storage for Public Cloud on Google Cloud Platform 8.1
We do not officially support this as a use case for high availability, but we can restore or reconstruct to a new DDVE as long as the bucket contents are safe in case of disaster, or the original DDVE compute instance is lost.
All the rules for system restore such as:
"Use multi-regional only for a location where regional type is unavailable. If you require regional redundancy, it is recommended that you deploy a Dell APEX Protection Storage in another region and configure replication between the Dell APEX Protection Storages."
We do not officially support this as a use case for high availability, but we can restore or reconstruct to a new DDVE as long as the bucket contents are safe in case of disaster, or the original DDVE compute instance is lost.
All the rules for system restore such as:
- Using the same original system passphrase on the new DDVE running system restore
- Installing new DDVE license.
- Other steps as listed in Chapter 3, for Recovery procedure for Dell APEX Protection Storage
Note: Reconstruction of metadata disks and DDVE takes time depending on the amount of data that must be copied to the metadata disks.
