How to Disable Foxit's Automatic Update Function

Symptoms
After installing Foxit version 12 and using it for a few minutes or hours, it automatically updates to version 13 but does not recognize the version 12 license key.
Cause
The Foxit version 12 license key is not recognized.
Resolution
Disable Automatic Update
You can use the following methods to disable automatic updates in Foxit version 12:
- Disable Automatic Updates with the Foxit Customization Wizard tool:
Navigate to the Installation Options of the Foxit Customization Wizard tool.
Select Disable Auto Update.
- Manually Disable Automatic Updates:
Open Foxit PDF Editor and navigate to the File Tab.
Select Preferences.
Click Updater.
Choose "Do not download or install updates automatically."
Click OK.
The following methods are for Advanced Users:
- Disable Automatic Updates using the registry:

Navigate to Key:Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Foxit Software\Foxit PDF Editor 12.0\plugins\Updater
Give String "UpdateMode" a value of "0" to stop automatic updates.
- Disable Automatic Updates using the command line:
AUTO_UPDATE- Value of "0" will not download or install updates automatically.
- Disable Automatic Updates using Group Policy Objects (GPO):
Open Group Policy.
Navigate to Foxit PDF Editor.
Select Preferences.
Click Disable the Automatically Update.
