Instructions
Pre-Requisites
In order to follow the instructions below, the End-User collecting the Avamar sql.gz file must have Avamar administrative access.
Quick-Start Instructions
- Log in to Avamar using SSH
- Browse to the directory where the sql.gz file is to be saved
- Issue command to GZIP Avamar SQL files
- Verify that the file was created successfully
- Send the sql.gz file to a Dell sales rep or Dell Partner for processing.
Detailed Instructions
- Connect and log in to the Avamar server using SSH
- Go to the directory where {Avamar database file}.sql.gz file is to be saved
- Create the {Avamar database file}.sql.gz file by issuing the following command:

gzip /usr/local/avamar/var/mc/server_data/mcs_data_dump.sql -c > /tmp/mcs_$HOSTNAME.sql.gz

- Verify that the file was saved

ls -la
-
- Upload the file using the Live Optics collector (select Data Protection and then Avamar).
