Symptoms
Alert Message:
Device Group: dg_title (ID <DG ID>) capacity fault tolerance state is failed.
Impact
- Storage Pools within the affected DG are in a critical state.
- Block storage reports potential data unavailability.
- I/O operations may be disrupted or blocked until the issue is resolved.
Cause
A DG enters a failed state when:
- Multiple devices or nodes within the group are unavailable or failed.
- The system can no longer maintain data redundancy or recoverability.
Resolution
Step 1: Validate Failed State
From the Primary MDM, run the following command:
This confirms whether the DG is in a failed state.
scli --query_all | grep -i failed
Step 2: Recovery Actions
- Validate all Storage Nodes are powered on. If any are down:
- Resolve hardware issues (e.g., PSU, motherboard, cabling).
- Power on the node manually or via remote management.
- Clear the device(s) error from PowerFlex.
- Exit Maintenance Mode if any nodes are in MM:
scli --exit_storage_node_maintenance_mode
