Symptoms

  • The client machine has four networker interfaces with each interface assigned a unique hostname.

where: hostsn0 is the primary interface's host name
  • The SAP client resource was created with one of the secondary interfaces' hostname.
  • Backup fails with "Unable to obtain user credential lockbox due to authentication denied."
  • nsrsapsv log does not get created on the client side under /nsr/applogs.

Cause

Conflict between the NetWorker client resource name and the actual hostname on the client machine.

Resolution

  • Delete the client resource from the NetWorker server and the lockbox.

In the NMC user interface, go to Protection tab to delete the client.

Delete SAP HANA client  

Delete the lockbox in Server tab - Lockboxes.

Delete SAP HANA client lockbox  

  • Create the client resource using the main hostname of the client machine. Provide the required information in the next windows to complete the client configuration.

Recreate the SAP HANA client

  • Retry the backup.
