Instructions
By default, PowerProtect Data Manager uses available external VMDE to perform IA restores. To change this behavior and use the embedded VMDE by default, follow the steps below:
Steps to Configure Embedded VMDE for IA Restores.
- SSH into the PowerProtect Data Manager system as the admin user
- Edit or create the following configuration file:
vim /usr/local/brs/lib/vmdm/config/application.properties
-
Add the following entry:
# Enable embedded VM Direct Engine for Instant Access
recovery.useEmbeddedProxyForIA=true
- Restart Virtual Machine Data Manager (VMDM) when no VM or NAS backups are running.
vmdm restart
Behavior Notes
- Once this parameter is set, PowerProtect Data Manager prioritizes the embedded VMDE for IA restores.
- Even if an external protection engine is selected during the IA restore process, PowerProtect Data Manager ignores it and use the embedded engine instead.
