Dell Support Assist OS Recovery versions before 5.5.2 contain an Authentication Bypass vulnerability. An unauthenticated attacker with physical access to the system may exploit this vulnerability by bypassing OS Recovery authentication in order to run arbitrary code on the system as Administrator.

SupportAssist OS Recovery is only available on select Dell Client platforms. See the Dell SupportAssist OS Recovery Support Matrix on the SupportAssist OS Recovery site for a list of supported platforms.
Customers can check the current version of Dell SupportAssist OS Recovery by starting the SupportAssist OS Recovery following the Dell SupportAssist OS Recovery User’s Guide. Once started, go to the About menu which can be accessed through the three-dot menu icon (
).
