Symptômes

No Boot Device Found

XPS 12-9250, 12-7275, Latitude 3490, 3590, 7280, 7480, 5280, 5480, 5580, Precision 3520, OptiPlex 7760, 7460, 7060, 5260, 5060, 3060, 5060 AIO (and later systems) report "No boot device found" when you change the Boot Sequence to Legacy mode in BIOS setup menu.

These specific systems are based on the 7th generation Kaby lake processor (and above) and are designed to boot exclusively in the Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) boot environment. As a result, if legacy boot mode is selected, the system will not boot.

Cause

Note: This situation applies to any system from the Kaby lake 7th generation processor forward and is not limited to the systems that this article was originally based on.
Note: Later systems may not include an option for Legacy Mode. Continue to troubleshoot the No Boot Device as this article only applies to systems that provide the Legacy Mode option.

Résolution

Return the BIOS to UEFI Boot

You can resolve this issue by returning the system to the UEFI boot mode.

  1. From a power off state, power the system on and press F2 to boot into the BIOS setup menu.
  2. Select "Boot sequence"
  3. Change the option from "Legacy" to "UEFI", then select "Apply" in the right lower corner.

  4. Select "Advance Boot options" and disable "Enable Legacy Operation ROMs", then select "Apply" in the right lower corner.

  5. Select "Secure Boot", then "Secure Boot Enable".
  6. Change the option from "Disabled to Enabled", then select "Apply" in the right lower corner.

  7. Select "Exit" in the right lower corner and wait for the system to reboot.
