Online Update SRM Task does not work over Proxy Server

Symptoms



- Online Update task Failing everytime attempting to run it. 
- Customer can normally open the the URL: vupdate.emc.com from the Webbrowser Normally 
- Could see Errors like the below in the task log: 
This indicates that there was a connection timeout when trying to connect to the url vupdate.emc.com from the SRM Frontend.

Caused by: java.net.UnknownHostException: vupdate.emc.com: Connection Timeout
- When trying to ping or telnet the URL vupdate.emc.com from the Frontend the same Error cause was displayed. 

Cause

Customer is using a Proxy Server, Consulted with the Engineering team and they confirmed that the Online Update cannot run ( access the URL : vupdate.emc.com ) when there is a Proxy Server being used at the customer server.

Resolution

Online Update task cannot run when a Proxy Server is deployed on the Customer Network.
