Symptoms

NDMP level zero backups takes a long time to complete.

Avamar forces a new NDMP level zero backup, however a previous backup already completed successfully for the file system.

Info Messages for running a full backup:

Cause

Avndmp plug-in calls avtar to check for a previous backup to use as base for incremental.
Avtar checks only the last 30 labels. If the previous backup was not found within the previous 30 labels on the client level, avndmp forces a new full backup.

Resolution

The incremental search limit can be increased by using the  
avndmp flag limit-incremental-search

Create an avndmp.cmd file under the client directory on the accelerator node:
  
/usr/local/avamar/var/<client_name>

Add the following flag in the avndmp.cmd file:
  
--limit-incremental-search=n

Where n is the number of previous backups to search. The default is 30.
