Dell Data Science Application Fails on Launch

When opening the Dell Data Science application using the install notification, from DSS or from the application menu check that the computer has a valid Internet connection.

DDS gives three notification options:

  1. When the first notification appears, you are presented with an option to defer the reminder. Then you must select Remind me later to avoid the DSS Installer Crash when not connected to network and the computer suppresses further notifications for 24 hours.
  2. After the 24-hour deferral period, the notification will reappear. You may again choose Remind me later if the network is still not connected which defers the final notification for another 24 hours, which avoids the installer failing.
  3. Upon completion of the second 24-hour deferral period, the final notification is displayed. This notification cannot be skipped, but you retain the ability to close it manually. This way the DSS installer failure can be avoided.

Alternatively to prevent the application from failing resulting from network-related dependencies, you are advised not to launch the application when an active Internet connection is unavailable. The application relies on network connectivity for critical operations, and attempting to open it without Internet access may lead to unexpected behavior or termination.
