Removal Guide

 

CRUs are the parts of the system that do not need an engineer to remove or replace. The guides include pictures referencing what is involved. If these guides do not cover what you are looking to do, then you will want to reference your System Manual.

Removal Instructions

1 Small Phillip's head screwdriver 2 Plastic Scribe
3 Small Flat head screwdriver    
 
Note: Be aware that using a large Phillips or Flat Head screwdriver may result in damage to the head of the screws. This would make their removal impossible without specialty tools, that are not available to our onsite engineers.

 

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the SSD:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensures that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

  2. Remove the (M2x4) screw on the SSD door latch cover.
    Remove the (M2x4) screw on the SSD door latch cover.

  1. Push the SSD latch and lift the SSD door.

  1. Push the carrier latch to release the SSD carrier.
    Push the carrier latch to release the SSD carrier.

  2. Pull the mylar tape to lift the SSD carrier of the computer.

  3. Flip the SSD carrier and remove the (M2x5) screw.
    Flip the SSD carrier and remove the (M2x5) screw.

  4. Pull the mylar tape and lift the SSD carrier cover.

  5. Remove the (M2x2) screw that secures the M.2 2230 solid state drive to the SSD carrier cover.
    Remove the (M2x2) screw that secures the M.2 2230 solid state drive to the SSD carrier cover.

  6. Lift and remove the M2.2230 solid state drive.
    Lift and remove the M2.2230 solid state drive.

  7. Lift and remove the SSD extender of the SSD carrier.

 

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the Battery:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensures that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

  2. Slide the battery release latch to the unlock position.

  1. Slide the latch down to unlock the battery.

  1. Lift the battery out of the battery bay.

  2. Remove the battery from the system.
    Battery Removal

 

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the Stylus:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensures that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

  2. Slide the stylus out using the groove on the stylus pen.

    Note: Avoid pulling the stylus with the stretchable thread.

  1. Loosen the knot and slip the stylus through the hole to remove the tether from the chassis.

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensures that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

  2. Remove the two (M3.5x9) screws that secure the handle to the system.

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the Base Cover:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensures that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Remove the SSD, and Battery.

  2. Remove the 22 (M2.5x7) and six (M2x4) screws that secure the base cover to the system chassis.

  1. Remove the two (M2x4) screws that secure the battery cable cover to the system chassis.
    Remove the 22 (M2.5x7) and six (M2x4) screws that secure the base cover to the system chassis.

  1. Disconnect the left and right battery cables from the connectors on the system board.

  2. Lift the base cover from the system chassis.
