Removing the heat sink

  1. Follow the procedure in Before Working Inside Your Computer .
  2. Remove the:
    1. cover

    2. hard drive assembly

    3. system fan

  3. To remove the heat sink:
    1. Loosen the captive screws that secure the heat sink to the computer [1].
    2. Lift the heat sink away from the computer [2]. Figure displaying how to remove the heat sink from the computer.
