How to replace the Cable Retention Bracket on a PowerEdge R730

This 3D experience gives you the step by step process of replacing the Cable Retention Bracket and a PowerEdge R730. The procedure will also include removing the System Cover, Cooling Shroud, PCIe Card Holder and reinstalling them.

Removal

System Cover

Identify the system cover highlighted in blue.

Rotate the latch release lock counter clockwise to the unlocked position.

Open the latch on the system cover

Slide system cover toward the back and using the latch lift system cover up from system.

Cooling Shroud

Identify the cooling shroud highlighted in blue

Holding the touch points, lift the cooling shroud away from the system.

PCIe Card Holder

Identify the PCIe card holder highlighted in blue

Press the release tab and slide the card holder toward the back of the chassis to release the PCIe card holder from the chassis.

Lift the PCIe card holder out of the chassis

PCIe Card Holder

Identify the PCIe card holder location highlighted in blue

Align the PCIe card holder with the notches and tabs on the power supply unit cage.

Press the release tab and slide the PCIe card holder toward the front of the chassis until firmly seated.

Cooling Shroud

Identify the cooling shroud location highlighted in blue

Align the tabs on the cooling shroud with securing slots on the system, then lower the cooling shroud into the system until firmly seated.

System Cover

Identify the system cover location highlighted in blue

Align the slots on the system cover with the tabs on the system.

Push the system cover latch down. The system cover slides forward and the slots on the system cover engage with the tabs on the system.

Rotate the latch release lock clockwise to the locked position.
