Removal
Base Cover
Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
Using a Torx #5, remove the screws that secure the base cover.
Starting at the bottom left corner, carefully pry the base cover along the bottom and sides.
Grasp the bottom and rotate it upwards to release the base cover from the system.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue
Use the tab to assist in disconnecting the battery cable from the system board.
Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
Battery
Identify the battery highlighted in blue
Remove the screws that secure the battery.
Remove the screws that secure the battery.
Peel the tapes that secure the speaker cable to the battery.
Lift the battery off the palm rest assembly
Memory Modules
Identify the memory module highlighted in blue.
Peel the bottom of the DDR jacket back to access the memory module.
Using your fingertips, carefully spread apart the securing clips until the memory module pops up.
Slide the DDR jacket off to remove from the memory module.
Slide and remove the memory module from the memory module slot.
SSD (Solid State Drive)
Right Fan
Identify the fan highlighted in blue
Remove the screws that secure the I/O board shield.
Lift to remove the I/O board shield off the system board.
Remove the screw that secures the fan to the system board.
Disconnect the fan cable from the system board.
Holding by the edges, slide the fan out and lift to remove.
Left Fan
Identify the fan highlighted in blue
Disconnect the fan cable from the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the right fan to the palm rest assembly
Holding by the edges, slide the fan out and lift to remove.
Heatsink
Display Cable
Identify the display cable highlighted in blue
Loosen the captive screws that secure the display cable bracket.
Lift the display cable bracket off the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the display cable holder.
Gently lift to disconnect the display assembly cables (touchscreen and camera).
I/O Board
Identify the I/O board highlighted in blue
Disconnect and remove the I/O board cable from the system board and I/O board.
Remove the screws that secure the IO board and USB Type-C port bracket.
Remove the USB Type-C port bracket.
Lift to remove the I/O board.
System Board
Identify the system board highlighted in blue.
Loosen the screw that secures the wireless module (WLAN) bracket.
Remove the bracket to access the WLAN cables.
Disconnect the antenna cables. Use a plastic scribe to gently release. Note the connections.
Peel the tape and disconnect the speaker cable from the system board.
Lift the latch, and disconnect the fingerprint reader board cable from the system board
Lift the latch, and disconnect the keyboard control board cable from the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the right side USB Type-C bracket to the system board.
Lift the right side USB Type-C bracket from the system board.
Remove the screw that secures the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the system board.
Lift the system board off the palm rest assembly. Do not lift from the left/right edges.
Install
System Board
Identify the system board location highlighted in blue
Install the system board into the slot on the system and align the screw holes.
Install the screws that secure the system board.
Install the screw that secures the system board.
Align the screw holes on the right side USB Type-C bracket with the screw holes on the palm rest assembly.
Install the screws that secure the right side USB Type-C bracket to the system board.
Connect the keyboard control board cable and close the latch to secure.
Connect the fingerprint reader board cable and close the latch to secure.
Connect the speaker cable and adhere the tape that secures it to the system board.
Connect the black upper cable to the "AUX" (filled triangle).
Connect the cable to the "MAIN" (empty triangle). Ensure cable is routed under guide.
Install the bracket to secure the antenna cables.
Tighten the captive screw to secure the WLAN bracket.
I/O Board
Identify the I/O board location highlighted in blue
Install the I/O board into the slot on the system.
Install the USB Type-C port bracket on the system board.
Install the screws that secure the IO board and USB Type-C port bracket.
Connect the I/O board cable to the connectors, ensuring the cable is oriented correctly ("IO" & "MB")
Display Cable
Identify the display cable location highlighted in blue
Connect the display assembly cables (touchscreen and camera).
Install the screws that secure the display cable holder.
Install the display cable bracket, using the alignment posts to position.
Tighten the captive screws that secure the display cable bracket.
Heatsink
Left Fan
Identify the fan location highlighted in blue
Slide fan into the slot on the system and align the screw holes.
Install the screws that secure the right fan to the palm rest assembly
Connect the fan cable to the system board.
Right Fan
Identify the fan location highlighted in blue
Slide fan into the slot on the system and align the screw holes.
Install the screw that secures the fan.
Connect the fan cable to the system board.
Install the I/O board shield, aligning the screw holes.
Install the screws that secure the I/O board shield.
SSD (Solid State Drive)
Memory Modules
Identify the memory module location highlighted in blue.
Align the notch on the memory module with the tab on the slot and slide the memory into the slot at an angle.
Slide the DDR jacket over the memory module.
Press the memory module down until it clicks into place.
Adhere the bottom of the DDR jacket to the memory holder.
Battery
Identify the battery location highlighted in blue
Install the battery and align the screw holes.
Adhere the tapes that secure the speaker cable to the battery
Install the screws that secure the battery.
Install the screws that secure the battery.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
Connect the battery cable to the system board.
Base Cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue
Align and install hinge first (careful of the cable inside the cover). Press until it clicks into place.
Install the screws that secure the base cover. (requires Torx #5)
