How to replace the M.2 SSD module on a PowerEdge R660

This 3D experience gives you the step by step process of replacing the M.2 SSD module and a PowerEdge R660. The procedure will also include removing the BOSS-N1 card carrier and reinstalling them.

Removal

BOSS-N1 card carrier

Identify the BOSS-N1 card carrier highlighted in blue.

Pull and lift the BOSS N1 card carrier retention latch lock to open.

Slide the BOSS N1 card carrier out.

M.2 SSD module

Select the cooling fan you want to replace.

Holding the orange touch points, lift the fan out of the system.

Install

M.2 SSD module

Identify the air shroud location highlighted in blue.

Holding the edges of the air shroud, align the tabs on the air shroud with the slots on the system.

Lower the air shroud into the system until it is firmly seated.

BOSS-N1 card carrier

Identify the BOSS-N1 card carrier location highlighted in blue.

Slide the BOSS N1 card carrier into the BOSS N1 module slot.

Close the BOSS N1 card carrier release latch to lock the carrier in place.
