Removal
Base Cover
Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the base cover.
Pry the base cover near the hinges. Pry from recess points near the hinges.
Loosen the base covery by working on the left, right and, bottom sides to open the base cover.
Lift to remove the base cover.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
Using the pull tab, disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
Battery
Identify the battery highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the battery.
Lift the battery out of the system.
Carefully push the battery filler downwards to remove it from the battery.
Peel the tape that secures the battery cable to the battery.
Turn the battery over.
Unroute the battery cable from the routing guides on the battery.
Disconnect the battery cable from the connector on the battery.
Speaker
Identify the speaker highlighted in blue.
Unroute the antenna cables through the routing guides. Note the cable routing.
Disconnect the speaker cable from the connector on I/O daughter board.
Peel the tape that secures the speaker cable to the palm rest assembly.
Unroute the speaker cable and antenna cable from the routing guides on the palm rest. Note the cable routing.
Lift the speakers, along with the cables, off the palm rest assembly.
Smart card module
Identify the smart card module highlighted in blue.
Lift the latch and disconnect the touchpad, keyboard and backlight cables from the connector on the touchpad.
Lift latch and disconnect the smart card cable from the USH board.
Peel off the smart card reader cable from the palm rest assembly.
Remove the screws that secure the smart card module to the system.
Slide and lift the smart card module and the cable from the system.
Install
Smart card module
Identify the smart card module location highlighted in blue.
Slide the smart card module into the slot and align the screw holes.
Install the screws to secure the smart card module to the system.
Adhere the smart card reader cable on the palm rest assembly.
Connect the smart card cable and lower the latch to secure.
Connect the touchpad, keyboard and backlight cables to the connectors on the touchpad and close the latch to secure.
Speaker
Identify the speaker location highlighted in blue.
Using the alignment posts, install the speaker in the slots on the system.
Route the speaker cable and antenna cable through the routing guides on the palmrest assembly.
Adhere the tape that secures the cables to the palm rest assembly.
Route the antenna cables through the routing guides.
Connect the speaker cable to the connector on the I/O daughter board.
Battery
Identify the battery location highlighted in blue.
Turn the battery over.
Connect the battery cable to the connector on the battery.
Route the battery cable through the routing guides on the battery.
Turn the battery over.
Adhere the tape that secures the battery cable to the battery.
Carefully push the battery filler upwards to attach it to the battery.
Install the battery into the slot on the system, aligning the screw holes.
Tighten the captive screws to secure the battery in place.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
Connect the battery cable to the connector on the system board.
Base Cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
Align the base cover tabs to the slots, press the cover until it clicks into place.
Tighten the captive screws that secure the base cover to the system.
