Symptômes

The Dell 27 Gaming Monitor (S2716DG) does not wake using the keyboard or mouse after the display enters deep sleep mode. Powering off, then powering on the display again resolves the issue until the monitor sleeps again.

There is no issue when the computer is set for sleep mode. Both the computer and the monitor wake from sleep with mouse movement.
Note: If the monitor and computer do not wake when both the monitor and computer are sleep enabled, the issue described in this article is not present. 

Cause

To meet the 0.5W deep sleep power consumption target, the S2716DG Nvidia G-sync module is turned off after the monitor enters deep sleep mode. This state ignores mouse movement.

Résolution

Note: Deep Sleep is a sleep state configured on the monitor and not the computer.

To quickly wake while retaining low-power deep sleep savings:
  • Press any of the monitor front panel buttons once to wake the monitor from deep sleep.
  • Power cycle the monitor to wake from deep sleep.

Disable Deep Sleep:

Note: The following configuration enables standard sleep. Power usage while in standard sleep mode exceeds the low power 0.5 W target.

Disable the Monitor Deep Sleep Mode by following these steps:

  1. Press Button 3 to enter the On-Screen Display (OSD) Menu.
  2. Use Button 1 or Button 2 and highlight Others. Press Button 3 to select the option.
  3. Select Monitor Deep Sleep (Figure 1) option and Press Button 3 to Disable.
    Note: Pressing any button (except the Power button) on the front panel of your Dell S2716DG Monitor may also wake up the monitor after it goes into deep sleep.
