Removing the Base Cover

  1. Follow the procedures in Before Working Inside Your Computer .
  2. Remove:
    1. battery

    2. hard drive

    3. access panel

    4. optical-disk drive

    5. WLAN card

    6. memory module

    7. keyboard

  3. Perform the following steps as shown in the illustration:
    1. Disconnect the ODD connector and lift it to remove it from the system board [1,2].
    2. Remove the screws from inside the palmrest [3].

  4. Perform the following steps as shown in the illustration:
    1. Disconnect the speaker cable that secures the back cover to the computer [1].
    2. Remove the screws that secure the base cover to the computer [2].

  5. Perform the following steps as shown in the illustration:
    1. Turn the computer over and remove the screws at the base of the computer [1].
    2. Release the tabs that secure the base cover [2].
    3. Pry up the base cover and slide it away from the computer [3].
