Secure Connect Gateway 5.x — Virtual Edition Deployment Guide

Deploy Secure Connect Gateway using VMware vSphere Web Client

Prerequisites

You must have vCenter Server running on the virtual machine on which you want to deploy secure connect gateway. Deploying secure connect gateway directly on a server running VMware vSphere ESXi is not supported.

If you have installed secure connect gateway in a demilitarized zone (DMZ) using two network adapters, see How to install SCG in a dual NIC configuration for deploying secure connect gateway.

Steps

  1. Download and extract the OVF file to a location accessible by the VMware vSphere Client. Use the 7-ZIP or Winrar tool to extract the OVF file.
NOTE:Winzip corrupts the files and prevents the completion of the deployment.
  2. On the right pane, click Create/Register VM.
The New virtual machine window is displayed.
  3. On the Select creation type page, select Deploy a virtual machine from an OVF or an OVA file and click Next.
  4. On the Select OVF and VMDK files page, enter a name for the virtual machine, select the OVF and VMDK files, and click Next. When you select the extracted files, ensure that both the .ovf and .vmdk files are selected.
The Select storage page is displayed. If there is more than one datastore on the host, the datastores are displayed on the Select storage page.
  5. Select the location to store the virtual machine (VM) files and click Next.
  6. On the License agreements page, read the license agreement, click I agree, and then click Next.
  7. On the Deployment options page, perform the following steps:
    1. From the Network mappings list, select the network that the deployment template must use.
    2. Select a disk provisioning type.
    3. Click Next.
  8. On the Additional settings page, enter the following details and click Next.
    • Domain name server
    • Hostname
    • Default gateway
    • Network IPV4 and IPV6
    • Time zone
    • SCG web administrator username
  9. On the Ready to complete page, verify the details that are displayed and click Finish.
A message is displayed after the deployment is complete and the virtual machine is powered on.
NOTE:Wait for 10 to 15 minutes before you log in to the secure connect gateway user interface.
