Aurora R12, ram gear 2 issue fixed?

Is the ram gear 2 issue completely fixed? Some people said they gotten the new BIOS update (1.1.1) and it fixed the speed issue. But I don’t know if gear 2 is completely fixed.

Can you update this post to tell me if they fixed it (later)?

Also if the issue isn’t fixed in the bois update 1.1.1 then can they fix it in the future.

Gear mode 1/2 is still an outstanding issue as reported by other owners of R12's.

There's no information available on a BIOS update/fix for this issue.

Any updates for the R12, including BIOS updates, will always be posted on the drivers download page: R12 drivers page

If you sort it by released newest the latest updates will be displayed first. I found that the easiest way to check for updates.

Currently the latest updates were posted June 17, 2021 (2 days ago) with an update for AWCC.

im honestly confused.

There were 2 issues with the R12:

1. Slow RAM access speeds. (Memory read/write speeds)

2. Inability to select between gear 1/2 mode. (higher than anticipated memory latency)

#1 has been addressed with the BIOS update.

#2 has not been addressed yet and there's only Gear 2 mode available.

#1 and #2 are 2 different issues. Read/Write speeds and latency are 2 different things.

#1 has been addressed with the BIOS update.

Negative ghost rider, don't spread incorrect information..   There is still a major RAM latency issue - so the RAM issue is definitely not fixed

That is caused by item #2. The read/write speeds have been addressed with the bios update.

See this report by an R12 owner with the latest bios: R12 read/write speeds

Yep r12 owner here and the ram latency is still crazy high. Still no word on a fix. It’s been a while since the latest update so who knows.

Should I buy Alienware r12 ? Is it good

also is it better than r10 Ryzen 5000 version?

does this high latency and low read and write speeds or the ram and gear 2 affect the gaming experience?

By the early reports from other users the latency issue seems to be either unchanged, or worse.

It looks like some 3d benchmarks are reporting lower scores, but that could be because of the bios enabling Resizable BAR support, which can lower 3d performance under certain circumstances and improve under other circumstances.

Wish I could tell you more, but I don't have an R12 so I cannot test it out and have to go by what other owners are reporting.

That's a decision I cannot make for you. It is something you will have to decide for yourself after you reviewed the available information from other owners.

If it were me, based on the R10 and R12 threads by owners of those respective machines, I would get myself an R10 over an Intel based machine.

I am likely somewhat biased, because I own an R10.

Based on the reviews you have found. Is Alienware aurora r12 just garbage or a good gaming pc?

I would say the R10 is better.
