Cannot delete warnings or alerts in Unisphere
Hello all!
I have 2 Celerra (NS 480) and 2 Clariion (CX4 - 480) arrays I manage with unisphere. I login with a global account that
has nasadmin privs. When I try to right click and delete warnings or alerts, one of two things happen:
1) The delete option is greyed out
2) I can delete the warning, but it shows back up in a matter of seconds. I do not mean come back
as a new alert, the same alert shows back up in the warnings pane in Unisphere.
I have tried clearing out the alerts file by a primus article I found, and that did not work.
Thanks for any help!!!
Jack

I believe that the designers decided that certain alerts should not be cleared to ensure that the problem is fixed.

Thank you! If not from that pane, can you please tell me where I can
delete them? I have tried from
several different places, and cannot delete them.

Hi Jack,
I believe that we'll be unable to delete the warning and alerts pane under Unisphere, since the Pane is supposed to show the Alerts and warnings. However will let you know if there is an option to do the same.

How many total alerts are there?
What is the warning you are trying to clear?

I have a few different ones, all warnings. A few on the celerra for
fs_auto_extension (which I have already fixed)
and some on the Clariion(s) for server initiator no longer has active
connection to the array.
I have fixed all of these warnings, but they will not clear. Im pretty
sure it is probably something I am
not doing right, or something simple that I am missing.
Thanks!

On the clariion alerts about the server no longer connected - did you fix the server or did you de-register the server? The alert will come back if the server that is not connected is still in a storage group and still in the connectivity ststus. For servers you no longer use, remove from the Storage Group (if still there), then de-register in Connectivity Status.

These are old alerts, that will not go away.

so the servers referenced in the alerts are completely deregistered from the array?
See if you can run the following comand from naviseccli to the array SPA IP address:
naviseccli -h IP_Address_SPA port -list
This will list all the hosts registered - check to ensure that the HBA's WWN are not listed.

I can take care of that. What I am more worried about, is the fact that
the delete and accept options
are greyed out when you right click on a warning, not allowing you to
delete it.

Glen is absolutely right, but just to add another point to it wherin I ve seen such a scenario. We had an alert of a faulted disk in Unisphere under alerts, couldn't delete it ( maybe coz that kinda alert is designed not to be deleted ). I checked the logs to confirm the disk status, it was faulted and was replaced, now spinning allright. So I restarted the GUI ( THE MANAGEMENT SERVER ) Logged in to unisphere and "wooolaaa" the alert wasn't there.

Sorry to revise an OLD thread... its the only thing coming up in my search for this.
VNX5200, lots of Warning alerts for transfer_support_materials (The remote FTP server/directory...).
I followed the EMC KB article to correct the configuration for their FTP server and did the -verifyftp and it works. But how can I clear these 41 Warnings? I had no issue doing this to an NX4.
I'm logged into Unisphere as sysadmin. Tried logging into as root and nasadmin, but the only way that works is if I change the drop down from Global to Local, and then 90% of the functions once logged in are greyed out and theres a message about managing something.
So the only account with complete Unisphere functionality seems sysadmin, and global... however Delete is greyed out.
