Hard Drive Replacements

I am considering asking for a replacement hard drive (not a Samsung) in my efforts to stop my new XPS 420 from crashing so often. However, I really don't want to return my current drives, as I've heard all the stories about companies not wiping them properly and then selling them again. If I get them replaced with new ones, will I be forced to return it to the engineer? Can I just destroy it myself?

You will need to return it to dell, other wise ul get the bill. You could use something to clean the hard drive.Something like what the DOD recommends for there stuff.Heres a quick one i googled.

I'm curious.  Are you using Trend Micro PC-Cillin?  If you are, there may be a simple cure for the crashes.
