PC-cillan vs McAfee
HI,
My system came with McAfee and (knock-on-wood) I've had no major problems to date. I've certainly been hearing obout those who do. I'm considering going to PC-cillan and would like to download the free trial. Will I have to uninstall McAfee to use this trial version of PC-cillan. Are there any comments regarding PC-cillan verses McAfee. Let's not beat around the bush, what is the best AV program out there???

All of you replied within 20 minutes of my post. Now, that's impressive. I hope to get other replies and see if we can come up with more possibilities for an AV program. I see mixed opinions about the uninstall but I am leaning toward uninstall. I have already received instructions from McAfee on uninstalling.
For Pam, (Others are welcome to read too!!)
I got a link to Trend Micro HouseCall from your reply in an earlier thread. I did the Scan and was I impressed!! HouseCall scanned 26,409 files. I can't remember McAfee scanning more than 6500 files. It might make sense to put HouseCall into a regular maintenance program. Did you use the trial version of PC-cillan before you aquired the program? If so, did it give you full virus protection for the trial period? That's what has me concerned, uninstalling one AV program for anothers trial version. Thanks for any further advice you can give.
BTW, nice picture. Still growing those giant frogs in the fish pond?

PS: I have ZoneAlarm Firewall. It didn't seem to even blinck when HouseCalls scanned my system. Any thoughts, seems like that's what the firewall is for.

I don't know what version of McAfee you have. I went through the uninstall chore a few weeks back following the instructions for manual removal of v.4xxx. I still had leftovers and it took the instructions for v.5 (even though I had not had this) to get it completely off my system. I've got Norton AntiVirus 2000 now and am very happy with it. I don't think a program could be more user friendly. Good Luck!

I appreciate the responses to my question. I think I may uninstall McAfee and install PC-cillan. I hate to make a change but it's better now than after McAfee let's me down like soooo many others I've heard of.
If anyone knows of a "fool proof" procedure to uninstall McAfee I would appreciate hearing from you. I have a procedure provided by McAfee but I now question it's value.
Thanks again,
Steve
