XPS 400 does not recognize new DVD drive

Philips DVD+-RW DVD8801 installed on my PC (XPS 400) started to malfunction.  I bought a new drive (Pioneer DVR-115DBK) at newegg.com.  However, my PC does not recognize it.  Any ideas?  Thank you in advance.

Did you ensure that you set the jumper on the drive to the correct position. Most Dells use the CS(Cable Select) jumper position. That way it doesn't matter where it is on the IDE cable.

Thank you VERY much.  It was indeed the jumper.  Everything is fine now.  I REALLY appreciate your prompt expert advice.
