Bigger power supply for Inspiron 3656
My son bought a graphics card for his Inspiron 3656 but it needs a 450w power supply. On the chat support they told me that the power supply he currently has is the maximum the machine can use which is, I believe, 240w.
But I have seen people with 3650 upgrade to 450w or 500w PSU. My son's computer is a 3656 mind you so maybe they're different.

So is it true that I can't get a new PSU for this graphic card? Has anyone tried this?
Thanks! :)

You may have gotten more replies in the desktop forum as this is actually a laptop forum. But you basically answered your own question with the links you posted. It can be done but read the forum posts carefully as some replies mentioned modifying the case, or installing the PS outside of the case. And you will need a mod cable to adapt the 24 pin cable to the Dell motherboard. But again, the forum posts in the links you referred to will give you the information you need. And yes the 3650 is similar to your 3656.
