Install Windows 7 SP1 x64 on UEFI

I am trying to install Windows 7 x64 SP1 on a UEFI enabled Dell 6430 laptop (yes, I know I can set legacy options, but I specifically need a UEFI image for capture) and the installation disc stops at the Starting Windows screen.  I have used a standard Windows 7 x64 SP1 Enterprise disc, the Dell installation disc it came with, and a custom-built WinPE 3.1 preloaded with hard drive drivers and none will boot past this point.  If I use a Windows 8 disc or a WinPE 4 environment it makes it just fine.  This is not specific to this machine, all of this model are doing this as well as several other models.  What am I missing to make this work?  Thank you for any help.

I got some help on another forum and figured I should post the answer that helped me here:

You have to make sure enable legacy boot option rom is checked under advanced boot options.  Then under boot sequence make sure UEFI is checked.  This loads up an older video protocol, which Windows 7 needs (Windows 8 has no problem with the newer protocol) and everything is good.  Thank you for your time.

Hi mkmaster78,

Share the exact system model. Is it Latitude 6430u, E6430S or E6430?

To install windows in UEFI mode, make sure the secure boot option is enabled and Enable Legacy Option ROMs is set to off.

Also, select the UEFI CD/DVD option from the One Time Boot Menu to install windows in UEFI mode.

Keep me posted with the information. I will be glad to assist you further.

Secure Boot is off, as is Legacy and I am selecting the DVD as a UEFI boot option from the F12 menu.  However, it freezes up at the Starting Windows screen.  How do I determine the specific submodel on the device?  I only can find E6430 on it, no trailing letters.

Thanks for your assistance with this.

Thank you, mkmaster78, for taking the time to reply with the answer to your original question.  Nearly two years later I found your posts, and it was the key I needed to perform a UEFI install on my E6430.
