Monitor turns on and off on multiscreen mode

Hi everybody.

I've a latitude e5450 Intel I5 with graphics Intel 5500.

My laptop is connected with 3 monitors, using a docking station (an old advanced DELL e-replicator).

In 3-screen mode, one monitor, that one connected in HDMI often turns off and on, even now I'm writing. The others are vga and e-port.

I'm quite sure it's not monitor's fault, because in one-screen mode it doesn't happen.

The frequency is the same for all 3 monitors.

Can you help me please?

Hi Freakapotamus,

Thanks for posting.

Apologies that your system is not running as expected.  Here is some information from the Dell knowledge base you may find helpful:  http://dell.to/2zowfSK

We had this issue on a bunch of E5550s and the fix was to update the firmware on the built-in DisplayPort MST hub, which handles outputs to the dock, including to non-DisplayPort connectors.  This is the update, and you have to install it while connected to the dock and having at least one dock-connected display active: www.dell.com/.../driversdetails

thanks a lot.

First i noticed that one screen was in a different frequency, 59hz instead of 60.

I corrected it and seems it was good but not enough. Then I've restarted, installed this update you suggested, restarted again and now seems alright. Hope I've solved

Yeah, technically 60 Hz is actually 59.94 Hz or something like that, and some display drivers list both options.  I'm not sure there's actually a difference, but hopefully you're good to go!
