715n NAS and Mcafee's ASaP virusScan
Has anyone tried to install Mcafee's VirusScan ASaP software onto the 715n NAS?
I am looking in installing Watchguard Technologies FireBox X500 onto our network and it comes with a 5 seat subscription of Mcafee VirusScan ASaP. Hopefully that software will relive me from having to check for virus Updates on computers I do not access every day.
Dose anyone have and opinions on this software or any alternatives to it?
Currently I am managing a vary small network consisting of
1 Dell 715N NAS File Server (Windows Advanced Server LE) (No Domain Controller)
1 Linksys Wireless router (WRT45G)
1 DSL Router
34 Workstations (A mix of Win98 se, Win200 Pro and Win XP Pro)

Hi, VirusScan ASaP is currently supported on all Windows versions except Small business Server. I have extensive knowledge of this product and use it day to day. Yes this software can be installed and pretty much left to its own thing as all updates are managed. You can get a 14 day free trial just go to www.mcafeeasap.com and register an email address. you will be able to download and play with it until you decide.
I believe that the watchguard solution also has an added component that "talks to the firewall" and will not let the users onto the internet unless the virusscan is up-to-date.
If you do decide to go for the trial then you will need to remove these agents before you re-install the Watchguard ones. The reporting features of this product are what makes it "best of breed". Take a look.
Though I would make sure your wireless is secured - thats you biggest hole in the network ;)
Good luck :)
