PV-132T Eject Tape After Job
Hi, I'm looking for a way to automate tape ejection after a backup job is complete. (I use Brightstor v11 for software)
Apparently telling the tape to eject after job simply moves it back to it's original location. Then I need to check my backup log to see what the ID on the tape was, then check the devices to determine it's location, then manually move it to the IE slot...What I'd like to do is, if possible, set up a .bat file to run upon completion that would move the tape from the backup slot to the IE slot...
Is this possible, and if so, does anyone know the commands to accomplish?
thanks.

Hi Doug,
When you say IE, do you mean Import/Export (or 'Mail') slot?
I'm not sure about BrightStor 11, but ARCserve 2000 and BrightStor 9 have two command line utilities called tapetest.exe and chgtest.exe that perform command line (and hence scriptable) functions on tape drives and changer devices (libraries).
tapetest can perform actions like erase, format etc. for a drive, and chgtest can perform imports/export, mount/dismount, inventory, and so on on a changer (i.e. library) device
You might try BrightStor's inline documentation or CA's knowledgebase for more info
It it helps any, here are the arcticles for ARCserve's tapetest and chgtest utilities.
(ARCserve v7.0 = ARCserve 2000)
As far as I know, BrightStor 9 and ARCserve 2000 are very similar.
You mileage will vary!
Hope this helps,
Éanna
