8 pin pci-e aux power connector is made from TWO six pin connectors. Using Y splitter cables DOES NOT add more power to your system changing a 685W psu into an 825W or 1300W unit.
Number of pins DOES NOT mean you can use anywhere.
GPU 8 pin (6 + 2) is NOT CPU 8 pin (4 + 4)
Y spltters that change single six to 8 or worse 2X 8 pin are NOT SAFE.
Overtaxing your psu can lead to FRY AND DIE motherboard, GPU, FIRE as well as killing everything else including RAM, HDD, CPU, etc.
Compare resolution and frame rates (just to name two) for the 2 GPU's you"re looking at. Then, like for the Radeon Pro W6600, is it worth a new PSU or a whole 'nother Precision?
If not already, check out games' (or other, not mentioned yet what you're into) requirements and/or games or work that can be done on the aforementioned GPU's.
My main points were, or meant to be: Can the 950w PSU for the Precision 5820 be used in the 5810? Or is @RadeonProUser better off getting a 5820 or another Precision?
Or is @RadeonProUser better just getting the Radeon Pro W6600 over the W5700?
Yea i just might get a radeon pro w6600. My 685W PSU should handle it just fine considering my w5500 works perfectly fine. I'm buying a secondary desktop though, 7810.
Yes i know about a RTX 4000, thanks.
On another note, i just realized how i can use a 5700 just don't feel going through the trouble lol. Buying a new PSU that has 8pin connectors and buy a whole different desktop, to lazy hahah. Just going to go with a w6600.
Well i have a spare HPZ420 and the PSU you can removed it and just add another one if you like, i did it before. So all i would have to do is buy a new PSU that has the 8pin connector, etc, .I remember a few years ago, one desktop i had i had it laying on my table upward and the PSU i had it hanging out the side of the desktop lol.
Just going to save some money though because i want to buy my own scooter when i get my money soon. So a W6600 will be fine for now. I could always buy the RTX 4000 for my Dell 7810.
I know that a 5810 isn't a 5820. Earlier in this thread, I posed the question on if a 950w PSU from a 5820 could be used in a 5810. Your answer: "No Idea about power supply however I do not EVER remember 950W model."

Closest thing I could find to answering your inquiry: https://www.dell.com/community/Precision-Fixed-Workstations/Precision-5820-with-two-8-6-pin-GPUs/td-p/6203534
I don't know if you can put a 950w PSU from a 5820 in your 5810, but could be worth looking into.

Precision 5810 Spec Sheet.pdf also has a list of compatible GPU's categorized by graphics high to low end.

speedstep hello. Seems like my two questions were avoided from you.
I was just asking a simple question, is there any dell precision desktops that already come with a 8pin connector
and is there a PSU unit that i can add? a 5700 GPU radeon pro doesn't required that much, so it shouldn't fry anything.

@DELL-Chris M might have more information.
No Idea about power supply however I do not EVER remember 950W model.
Quadro RTX 4000 works fine with stock power supplies.
Quadro RTX 4000 B07P6CDHS5
NON dell cards will require F2 bios secure boot OFF.
Quadro K6000 and other 8 pin 225W-375W 2 slot cards require 825W power and dual six pin psu power board cable D92C9.

Hopefully not too much confusion was caused along the way. : )>
I couldn't find it on the Precision 5820 Spec Sheet, but whether standard or not, the 5820 has a 950w PSU.
I think you made a good decision not changing everything just for a GPU. EDIT: Last sentence was edited because I got W5700 mixed up with W6600.

5810 is NOT a 5820
DELL 950W for T5820 T7820 AC950EF-00 0WGCH4 0CXV28
@DELL-Chris M may have more information.
I don't own a 5820 I own a 5810 with 825W power supply and I have a Quadro RTX 4000 installed and it works fine.
